Convocation for New Distinguished Professorships at Hofstra University's Frank G. Zarb School of Business

The announcement was sent out yesterday for the convocation installing the new distinguished professors in Hofstra University's Frank G. Zarb School of Business. I so wish I could invite my mom and dad to attend, though I know they will be there in spirit as they are always with me. It will be a bittersweet day for me as my unsung heroes never received their due acknowledgment in life and I have had more than my fair share of acknowledgment for little more than doing my job. I am nothing. They were everything.

Recent television interview by ABC7 (Washington, D.C. ABC News affiliate)

Gene Maccarrone, my good friend and the co-author of several articles, and I were interviewed recently by Lisa Fletcher, senior investigative reporter for the Washington D.C. ABC television affiliate as part of her investigative report on the use of traffic cameras in Washington, D.C. She reached out to us after reading one of our articles on traffic enforcement by camera in her research. Reports that aired earlier this week feature some of my comments. You can find a link to the video that as aired as well as a transcript here: https://lnkd.in/emW7v2Q. I have a face best suited for radio these days and cringe at seeing myself on camera on this and on prior videos Hofstra has posted of me from a few years back. I hope some clips from Gene’s comments from our interview will make it to a future report as he is a handsome guy who, unlike his co-author, will never scare children during prime time. For the record, I know the proper usage of “number” and “amount” but misspoke twice in the clips intending to say “the highest number of fines” and “the highest amount [of dollars] in fines.” Cameras and bright lights melt the brain.
